What a great day to escape the early spring heat of the Valley and head up north for Kelsie & Daniel’s Sedona engagement photos. It was really windy up on those red rocks but these two didn’t skip a beat!
I asked Kelsie to tell me how Daniel proposed:
“Before our move from Illinois to Arizona we came out a month ahead to get our apartment keys. We got so much done the first 3 days of our 5 day trip, Dan suggested that we go on a hike to get away from all of the apartment details. He chose the Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain. He got me out of bed at 5 am, without eating breakfast or fully preparing for the intense day ahead, we made it to the base of the trailhead. After about thirty minutes I felt faint, wanted to give up, and complained a good portion of the hike up. Dan kept reassuring me that the hike would be worth it, that we had to make it to the top.
Once we got to the top of the vigorous path of Echo Canyon, I immediately wanted to take a nap! So I proceeded to lay down as Dan asks me to stand up. I said, “Dan, you just forced me to climb this mountain at 6:30 am, I deserve a quick nap.” He repeatedly asked me to stand up. I finally stood up to turn around and see him on his knee. I immediately was overcome with emotion of happiness, joy, excitement, tears, and embarrassment! It was one of the sweatiest and happiest moments of my life. Truly a memory I will never forget! Since then I’ve kept my mountain complaints to a bare minimum just in case something fantastic decides to happen once we have reached the top of the mountain.”
