What a picture perfect day for Brooke & Jack’s Rim Golf Club wedding! The leaves were just starting to change and a cool breeze blew through the trees as these two said I do surrounded by their closest friends and family.
I asked them both to tell me about when they knew they found “the one,” and a favorite memory from when they first started dating:
Brooke: “I knew Jack was the one when, during a long weekend away from home, we went out to a really nice dinner and decided to take our leftovers to-go. We went back to the room, left our food in the fridge and set out for the night. When we got back to the room several hours later, I was super hungry and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the seafood mac and cheese I had left behind.
Unfortunately, we found that our room didn’t have a microwave so I, regrettably, decided to eat the leftovers cold. Jack had a different idea, though – he lit a candle in our room, put the mac and cheese on a small plate from the wet bar, and spent 30 minutes shifting the food around over the candle until it was the perfect temperature. I knew at that moment I would marry him.”
Jack: “I knew Brooke was the one when I brought up the idea of going to watch basketball in Omaha, where I went to college, and I realized she was more excited for March Madness than I was! Our shared love for sports has led us to many different cities and created a lot of our best memories!
When we first started dating Brooke lived in Iowa and I lived in Minnesota. In between us was a whole lot of nothing – corn fields and truck stops for a four hour stretch. There was a Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel, however, almost exactly halfway between us in Mason City, Iowa called the Historic Park Inn (HPI). On several weekends when the full 4-hour drive seemed too far, we would meet at the HPI on Friday night and stay until Sunday. The hotel was amazing – renovated but still keeping its vintage charm. We had so much fun in the prohibition style bar and eating in the way-too-nice for our budget restaurant! I always brought flowers to keep in the hotel room all weekend!”
