Alex & David’s Mountain Shadows wedding photos are so colorful and romantic–and these two were so smitten with one another! Executed impeccably by the fabulous Victoria Canada Weddings & Events, it was a day to remember!
I asked Alex to tell me about how David proposed:
“It took place in Croatia. David had gotten me the trip as a graduation present from nursing school. We had gotten there the day before he proposed, and looking back I could tell when we were traveling he was very anxious. I thought it was just about all of the long flights and making sure everything went appropriately… little did I know he had this great plan in place.
We spent one night in Split before getting to the island, Hvar, where he proposed. We got to the island that morning and we went to go check into the hotel. It was taking a while, and so I went to check on what was going on. Right as I walked up to the desk, the guy working said, ‘We upgraded your room to celebrate your engagement.’ At that point, I immediately walked away laughing. I could tell David was upset by the man, but played it off by saying, ‘I just told all of the hotels this to get the upgrades.’
Then we went down by the pool and hung out. Around 2:00 he told me that he had a surprise for me later on that evening. We were going to be going somewhere and I needed to look nice, but I was not allowed to wear heels. When the time finally came, we went to the lobby to meet the driver. I honestly had no idea where we were going and what we were doing, but I had a little feeling something exciting was going to happen.
After a half hour drive, off-roading, we reached our destination at the top of a very high mountain. This mountain had three different peaks that we were then going to walk up to get the very top. When we reached the top, the driver dropped off a basket full of goodies and stated that he would come back and get us after sunset. David looked really nervous and kinda walked away from me just to ‘look around.’ I took some pictures of this beautiful area we were in and was in awe of the beauty.
David came and gave me a big hug… when we released, I could tell he was crying. Then I started crying and knew what was going to happen. He had this whole speech, none of which I can remember, but at the end of it, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. That mountain will forever be my favorite place–where my boyfriend became my forever.”
