Kendra & Kevin’s DC Ranch wedding photos are filled with color, spring vibes, and pure joy. Kendra texted me the week before their wedding a *little* panicked about the weather forecast. I told her not to worry, and that the forecast had already significantly improved. Fast forward to their wedding day—from zero rain in the forecast to being surrounded by rain on the horizon. We had only a few sprinkles during cocktail hour, then just when the sun appeared below the clouds I brought them out for golden hour portraits. I think it’s safe to say that the touch of sun and the rain over the McDowells made for some pretty epic destination wedding magic.
I asked them both to tell me about when they knew the other was the one:
Kevin: “I decided Kendra was worth the risk of making things in our friend group potentially awkward when, on one of our weekend lake getaways with the usual friend group, I was sitting next to her by a campfire and couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I didn’t know if the campfire lighting was hitting her just right, or if it was the several day beers I had indulged in, but my feelings for her continued throughout the weekend and also once we got back to the city. From that point on, I made sure to ‘randomly’ find a way to stand or sit by Kendra at any parties we were both at, and get to know more and more about her.”
Kendra: “Knowing Kevin was the one happened over a period of time, and I think started to happen almost subconsciously for me. I distinctly remember him and I having the best late night belt out session (at the aforementioned lake house weekend) to ‘Rewind’ by Rascal Flatts, and looking back on that and thinking how much fun we had together. It was my birthday in December that he came to the party solo with a bottle of red wine (already knew the way to my heart) when I thought to myself, ‘Do I like Kevin? I think I do.’ Over the next several months, our relationship as more-than-friends continued to grow, and when Sunday would roll around each weekend and I would go to leave, I felt as though I could’ve stayed with Kevin forever!”
