Prayers were answered for Kylli & Steven’s Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain wedding photos. Only the day before the weather called for strong winds, possible rain, and unpredictable temps. But it turned out to be the most beautiful day and we even had a little sunshine early in the afternoon.
Kylli & Steven live in New Orleans, and with the help of Louise Thomas at Events Made Special, they had the perfect fusion of the New Orleans vibe in the Arizona desert. Bright fuchsias and cobalts ruled the day, popping against the muted palette of the desert. And can we please talk about Kylli’s Vera Wang gown for a second?!
I asked Kylli to tell me about how Steven proposed:
“We got engaged on our four-year anniversary. I thought we were going to dinner to celebrate the anniversary, so the engagement was a total surprise! Steven made reservations at a nice restaurant near City Park and told me that our dinner was for 6:30pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, the hosts and waiters informed us that our table wouldn’t be ready until 7:00pm, and suggested that we go for a walk in the nearby park. I was irritated because it was hot and I was in heels, but it was all part of Steven’s plan! He led me to a clearing by the lake where he got down on one knee and popped the question. After I said yes, a crowd across the lake cheered, and his friend came out of the bushes where he had been secretly taking photos! We went back to the restaurant where congratulations, flowers, and champagne abounded. It was a very special night, and one that we will treasure forever.”
Congrats to you both, and thank you for having me with you on the first day of your marriage!

These two came out from Minnesota for their desert engagement photos, and they couldn’t have chosen a better location. I love when my couples embrace the beauty of the desert. Its neutral hues really make Andrea’s cobalt blue gown stand out. We had so much fun laughing and exploring together! I asked Andrea how Adam proposed:
I have always been a big “activites” person, while Adam could spend all day on a golf course or just hanging in a backyard with friends. Typically, I have been able to get him out of his shell and do some activities, but one activity that we never did was go to Minnehaha Falls. I have never been, even though I grew up in Minnesota.
So one mild winter day, we went to BLVD restaurant where we had our first date and sat in the same booth. After doing some convincing since it was “cold” outside, Adam brought me to the falls. He managed to keep it (painstakingly) a surprise and make it seem like it was on a whim. Adam and his friend, Buddy, had previously scoped out the location, and Buddy was secretly waiting with a camera for the moment.
When Adam popped the question in front of the icy but still running falls, I jumped up and down and said “Yes!” and “Here?!?” totally surprised! We were then able to celebrate with our mutual friend and roommate Buddy, then we left to go on a “Light Tour,” drinking Champagne and checking out elaborate Christmas lights in Minnesota. We were dropped off back at BLVD to meet up with our family and some close friends, and celebrated (maybe a little too much) the rest of the night.
Congrats to you both! So excited for your wedding with Meant2Be Events at Troon North Golf Club!

It was a very hot and sunny day for Toby & David’s El Chorro wedding photos, but that didn’t stop them from having the most fun, bright & colorful fiesta inspired wedding! Fuchsias, cobalts, and more were everywhere you looked and everything blended together perfectly. From the floral, to the paper, to the linens, and the Paletas & Prosecco (yum!!) this stunner was so pleasing to the eye.
I asked Toby & David to tell me about when they knew each other was “the one,” and how David proposed:
Toby: I knew pretty early into dating David that he was the one. He was the first guy who I felt like I could be 100% myself around, and someone I always had a good time with.
David: I knew she was the one when I would come back to town after being underway for several weeks (I was in the Coast Guard at the time), and she was the very first person I would rush to see. I knew my life was better when I was with her. We got engaged in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day. We had flown in to visit Toby’s sister who lives there, and her parents had joined us. My parents and brother live in Virginia and drove in to meet up with all of us for the day. I knew I wanted to ask Toby to marry me, and having our families all together seemed like the perfect time to do it. We were all cooling off at a local brewery after a day of sight seeing, and I got up to give a toast to her sister for hosting such a great weekend. Then I turned to Toby and got down on one knee. She looked totally surprised then she started nodding her head ‘Yes!’
Congrats to you both and best wishes!

It turned out to be an absolutely perfect day for Tanyelle & Kenton’s HammerSky Vineyards wedding photos, even though the day before was cold, windy and rainy. These two are so generous and kind, just wanting their guests to enjoy themselves. The love of their families were evident all day long and everyone was so incredibly happy for them! It was an honor for them to fly me out to Paso Robles, California to spend the day in this gorgeous, peaceful setting of HammerSky Vineyards.
I asked them each to tell me about when they knew each other was the one:
Kenton: We took a family vacation to Cabo after Tanyelle and I had been dating about 6 months. It was Thanksgiving week, and I didn’t want to take her away from her family for the holiday, so I bought her ticket to join us a few days after we had arrived. I remember driving to pick her up from the airport in Cabo, and seeing her by herself at the curb waiting, and I felt immediately complete and at peace knowing that she was finally there with me. It is hard to describe, but I felt like I was missing something for the first few days alone. When she got there I knew. I never wanted to do anything in life without her again. Plus, as the week went by, my family bombarded me with comments like “marry this girl already,” which really confirmed what I was feeling already. I was in.
Tanyelle: When Thanksgiving came around I knew I would love any opportunity to get to know all of Kenton’s loved ones. I knew the family vacation to Cabo had been planned out at least a year in advance, and was an exciting topic for his siblings and parents. I really wanted to be invited, but knew it was a close family vacation and I didn’t want to push the subject. I went over to Kenton’s place for a date night one night, and before we left for dinner, I saw a bag on his bed. There was a note and a plane ticket for me to join him and his family in Cabo for Thanksgiving. I was so excited to be included! But what touched me was that he said he bought the plane ticket in June (we met that May). It was the most romantic thing a man had ever done for me. I knew in that moment he was the person I couldn’t ever picture my life without. I remember being so extremely excited to land in Cabo. Seeing him and bonding with all of his family members just felt right and natural. I just knew without him, something was missing, and with him I was complete. Everything that week just kept making it so clear to me. Like when people say “when you know, you know”… it didn’t even feel like a decision to make. It felt like fate, it was so obvious to me that he was meant for me, and I for him.
Thank you both so much for making me feel so welcome. It was a special day I won’t soon forget. Congrats!

What an incredible spring day for Marian & Mark’s Sedona engagement photos. Oak Creek was stunning with so much new growth, and everything was green, green, green! The day was a little windy, but it was perfect for Marian’s long flowy dress.
I asked Marian to tell me about how they first met, and how Mark proposed:
“Mark moved to Arizona in 2011 and became friends with my older brothers. We became familiar with one another over the next couple years. In April 2013, Mark was going to a wedding with a blind date who cancelled last minute. He was with my brothers at the time, who decided to text me and see if I knew anyone who would be a good replacement. I said, “I’ll go!” And the rest is history. We had a great time that night and have been dating ever since.
We got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2015 on the the first day of a long weekend in Sedona. We were hiking at Cathedral Rock, and on the way down Mark suggested that we go off the trail to a viewing point. We sat down and were talking about the past year and how wonderful it had been, when Mark pulled out the ring! My reaction was to burst into happy tears!”
These two were so fun to spend time with and I’m so excited for their wedding with Andrea Leslie at El Chorro!
