Phoenix Country Club Wedding – Gina & Blaise

Phoenix Country Club wedding photos - Phoenix Wedding Photographer - Rachel Solomon Photography

A cold and windy day?  You’d barely know it the way these two smiled all day for their Phoenix Country Club wedding photos.  Even though it was cold, everyone rallied hard and made this day truly special.  The post-sunset candlelit ceremony was incredibly intimate and Victoria Canada created a reception space full of color and drama.

I asked Gina to tell me about how Blaise proposed:

“We got engaged on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa.  My parents took us and my brother and sister-in-law on an amazing vacation to South Africa.  Blaise completely surprised me when we went up to Table Mountain.  I was standing on a rock admiring the amazing views when I noticed Blaise nervously approaching.  He got down on one knee, almost fell, and brought out the most beautiful diamond ring.  My whole family was in on the surprise.  It was a dream come true!”

Desert Botanical Garden Engagement – Sheridan & Tyler

Desert Botanical Garden engagement photos - Phoenix Wedding Photographer - Rachel Solomon Photography

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for Sheridan & Tyler’s Desert Botanical Garden engagement photos.  You just can’t beat that Arizona golden hour light!

I asked Tyler to tell me about how he proposed to Sheridan:

“We got engaged on Thanksgiving in Rocky Point, Mexico.  Both of our families along with a few other close family friends had planned a trip down there.  Beautiful tables had been set on the beach for Thanksgiving dinner, and right before dinner everyone had a champagne glass for what Sheridan thought was just a toast of gratitude for the holiday.  We all sat with our families for dinner and someone from each table stood up to say what they were grateful for.  When it got around to our table, my dad started out with a few words and then passed it over to me.  I stood up and asked Sheridan to join me in standing and that’s when I asked her to marry me.”

Can’t wait for their wedding this fall with Table Number One Events at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson!

Tanque Verde Ranch Wedding – Kiley & Ty

Tanque Verde Ranch wedding photos - Rachel Solomon Photography

It was cold but beautiful for Kiley & Ty’s Tanque Verde Ranch wedding photos!  A crazy storm blew through the night before but we had clear sunny skies for their big day.

I asked them both to share a favorite memory from when they first started dating, and when they knew each other was the one:

Kiley:  I love the time we spent at my family’s cabin together.  It’s my favorite place in the world, and showing him around was like giving him and insider look into my childhood.  We got to go stargazing which is nearly impossible in the valley!

I have a journal from high school, and as cliche as it sounds, I wrote back then that he was the one.  In the real world, outside of my 12th-grade infatuation, I knew he was the one when he got his puppy, Koda.  He is so loving with her, and I knew that would translate to everyone he came into contact with for the rest of his life.  He also loves to play on the floor with my dogs, which is a winning signal if I’ve ever seen one.

Ty:  When we went cliff jumping on our first date!  I loved seeing how she was excited to try adventurous things.

After being long distance for almost a year, Kiley came to visit me for a week.  We spent time in New Orleans, and she was even willing to stay in a trailer park with me!  One night, she made me dinner… when I got home and saw her so excited to see me after work, I knew that’s what I wanted for the rest of my life.

Congrats to you both!

Arizona Snow Engagement – Megan & Lucas

Arizona Snow Engagement - Scottsdale Wedding Photographer | Rachel Solomon Photography

Numb toes and fingers were totally worth it for Lucas & Megan’s Arizona snow engagement photos!  We headed up to Munds Park for the afternoon and had some fun in the snow celebrating their engagement with their dog Frank.  I asked Megan to tell me about how Lucas proposed:

Lucas told me the night before that we would have to get up super early the next morning to babysit our nephews.  Once we woke up and got ready, I came downstairs to Lucas sitting on the couch, smirking, and drinking his coffee.  He told me to pack a bag with warm clothes because we would actually be spending the day in Flagstaff!  Lucas said the trip was to celebrate both our birthdays since school would resume soon and our birthdays would be during the week.

After arriving in Flag, we were just about to leave for dinner and go out downtown when Lucas said, “bring the camera.”  I put up a fight because it was the “nice camera” and the camera bag was “so big” I didn’t want to carry it downtown.  After some serious eye rolls and huffing from me, Lucas grabbed the bag.  Once we arrived to the restaurant 1899 on NAU’s campus, I was just about to open the restaurant door when Lucas said “Let’s walk around for a bit.”  Again, I rolled my eyes and huffed, considering it was freezing outside and pitch black, because campus was technically closed!

We walked around “Old Main” and came to the clock planter, where Lucas got down on one knee and proposed.  After the ring was on my finger, Lucas saw a man walking his dog, had to ensure he wasn’t homeless, then brought him over to take photos with the camera I didn’t want to bring!

Congrats to you both!

Arizona Desert Engagement – Natalie & Jeremiah

Arizona Desert engagement photos - Rachel Solomon Photography Blog - Phoenix Wedding Photographer

When Natalie & Jeremiah met up with me for their Arizona desert engagement photos, I knew it was going to be a blast!  They are both so incredibly fun, down to earth, and just fun to be around.  And who knew they would turn up the heat so much in front of my camera!  They even got to pick cholla out of my leg when it was all said and done.  If that doesn’t make you bond with your photographer, I don’t know what does.

I asked Natalie to tell me about Jeremiah’s proposal:

“During our 10-hour third date, one of the things we did was slow dance in his apartment to Peter Frampton’s ‘Baby I Love the Way’ on vinyl.  We both like that song and have danced to it a few times throughout the last year.  Jeremiah’s quite the dancer, and I love dancing with him, so we started taking dance lessons in August.

We dance together in our house multiple times a week, so I didn’t think anything of it when he turned on ‘our song’ early in the morning on Friday, October 7 and we started dancing in the kitchen.  He told me how much I mean to him, and that I make him a better person.  Then he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring box!  While down on one knee he told me that on the inside of the ring it says, ‘Beautiful,’ so that even when he’s not here with me one day, I’ll still know every day that I’m beautiful.  I sobbed and said, ‘Yes!’

Like most things in our relationship, every detail of the engagement was thought through.  He called my mom the night before to let her know, so that she’d have her phone on her at work and be ready for my call.  He proposed just hours before we boarded a flight to NJ to visit my friends and family, so that we would get to spend the next 6 days celebrating with them.”

Congrats to you both!  I’m so incredibly happy for you and so glad we have gotten to know each other!
