Emma & Riley’s Scripps College wedding was such a fun and incredibly personal celebration! Filled with emotion, nostalgia (10 of their family members also went to Claremont Colleges), love and laughter, it was a day that won’t soon be forgotten. And would you look at that campus? The green trees and lush surroundings were a treat for this desert dweller.
Planned, designed, and flawlessly executed by Britt Kingman of LVL Weddings & Events, this Scripps College wedding was absolutely stunning!
I asked Emma to tell me about how they met and some favorite dating memories:
“We were born on the same day in the same hospital, two hours apart (I’m older). We were in the same Kindergarten class where we were good friends (and birthday buddies). We then went to different schools and didn’t see each other again until we were 12. Over a two month period we kept bumping into each other again and again. Finally, I decided to ask Riley for his email address, and we started writing each other and became friends again. I moved to Philadelphia when I was 13, but we stayed in touch all throughout high school writing each other letters. We finally ended up going to the Claremont Colleges, Riley to Claremont McKenna College and I to Scripps College. Once in college we were already great friends and started dating after our first year there.
One of the things I love so much about Riley is that even though we’ve been together for over 9 years we have never stopped dating. Riley plans the most fun and exciting dates (we recently climbed a frozen waterfall just outside of Quebec City)! When we first started dating I was struck by Riley’s adventurous nature, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to try new things. On one of our first dates Riley took me to a very spicy Szechuan restaurant and introduced me to a new dish I’ve never had before. It was amazing and definitely set the tone for the rest of our relationship. There is never a dull moment with Riley, and there is always a fun adventure awaiting. He does the planning, and I am always there to say yes!”
