Emily & Vik’s Four Seasons Scottsdale wedding was nothing short of exquisite. From the impeccable details, the stunning gown, and the warm, kindhearted vibe from their family and friends, it was a day you won’t soon forget.
I asked Emily to tell me about how they met and when Vik proposed:
“We have a pretty crazy back story as to how we met. Vik and I both grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vik went to a high school super close to where I grew up. My brother and Vik played high school golf against each other. Many years later, Vik got matched at University of Oklahoma Health Science Center for his residency to become an ENT surgeon. He moved to Oklahoma in June 2017. He and my brother had touched base, and on August 11 my sister-in-law had her birthday party. I had just woken up from a night shift of working (I’m a nurse) and headed out to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday. When I arrived to the restaurant, I was sitting next to Vik, but didn’t think much about it because he was my brother’s friend.
After that night, I had friend requested him on Facebook and we started chatting on Facebook messenger. Somehow we ended up swapping phone numbers and began texting. That following Monday, he “accidentally” texted me asking to grab drinks–he meant to text his guy friend from residency. I ended up responding and meeting him for drinks, but I didn’t let him pick me up… I walked to a Mexican restaurant that was super close to the apartment that I used to live in to meet him–they have the best margaritas in town. I told myself I’d only stay for one margarita and then leave and go home. We ended up staying for like 3 hours and had the best time ever. Since that day we hung out every day.
For Vik’s proposal, we were in Scottsdale, AZ celebrating my brother’s 30th birthday. It was around 3:30pm and Vik had been bugging me to get ready early for dinner (we weren’t getting picked up until 5:30pm, and it takes me MAYBE an hour to get ready). I told him that we didn’t need to be ready that early. In hindsight, our nephew and niece weren’t coming to dinner, and the babysitter was coming over at 4:45pm. He wanted to propose before the babysitter got there!
I finally ended up getting ready around 4:45 (and yes, the babysitter was already there). He told me he wanted to go outside and have a glass of wine before dinner, which was not weird to me – it’s always so beautiful in Scottsdale, and I love spending time outside. We went outside and he asked me to marry him and Marley (our dog) forever – easiest YES ever!”
Congrats to you both! Thank you for the honor of documenting the first day of your marriage.
