What an amazing day for Tenley & Alex’s Silverleaf wedding! Set against the McDowell Mountains, Silverleaf is a private club that looks like it came straight out of Tuscany. Tenley & Alex celebrated with a romantic, elegant, and timeless wedding surrounded by family, friends, and stunning Arizona scenery.
I asked Tenley to tell me about how they met, some of their favorite early dating memories, and when she knew the other was the one:
Tenley: “We met in September of 2011. We had both recently graduated from college, and had moved to Chicago for work. A new coworker of Alex’s, and also a classmate of mine from Virginia Tech, was having a housewarming party on a Friday night. Both of us almost didn’t go. Alex was exhausted from his first week at his new consulting firm, and my roommate was out of town, so I was hesitant to go to the party alone. After some convincing from friends, both of us decided to attend the party. Alex and I locked eyes right when he walked in the door. We talked for a while at the party, and then at the bar that the group went to after. Before I left to go home, I got tired of Alex being shy, and suggested we exchange numbers.
One of my favorite memories was when I was living in NYC. I had just had a very long week at work. Around 5pm on Friday, Alex g-chatted me and asked me how much longer I was going to be at work, and what I was up to that night. I told him I was just so tired, all I wanted to do was put on pjs and watch a movie. A few minutes later, he said he wanted to join me, and that if I wanted company, he would head straight to the airport and get on a flight to NYC. Around 11 that night, he showed up at my apartment! No suitcase, no extra clothes, just his work bag. In typical NYC fashion, we went out to a midnight dinner to kick off an unforgettable weekend.”
Alex: “My favorite memory is when Tenley and I went to the Ryder Cup in Chicago on one of the first weekends after we started dating. It was the two of us, and two of my roommates, so I was a bit nervous that they were going to embarrass me. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well Tenley meshed with the group, and didn’t take them too seriously.”
Tenley: “We each knew we were ‘the one’ after Valentine’s Day weekend in 2013. We had spent a wonderful weekend together exploring San Francisco and Napa. We were dating long distance at the time (me in SF and Alex in Chicago), and we were very sad to say goodbye when Alex left on Sunday night.”
