A warm, hazy day in the afternoon Arizona desert was the perfect backdrop for Julie & Pat’s Phoenix desert engagement session.
I asked Julie to tell me about how Pat proposed:
“We got engaged on Thanksgiving 2020! I had an inkling it was coming soon, but not on this exact date. We picked up my mom (she was meeting his whole family for the first time that day), and I remember the car ride to his parents’ house felt so strange. She is usually talkative, but was super quiet the entire ride. Pat, on the other hand, was acting very hyper and talkative, which was also a tad bit unusual, haha.
When we arrived at his parents house, we went outside to their beautiful backyard to ‘take Christmas card photos.’ This was quite normal, but once they whipped out the tripod and said, “Let’s get a picture of just Pat and Julie,” I knew they were up to something.
I put my hand on his chest for a pose, and felt a *thump* *thump* *thump* and thought, ‘Oh gosh, what is happening right now…’ He turned and looked at me and said, ‘Julie, I want to spend the rest of my life with you,’ got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. The waterworks started immediately!! It was short and sweet. We kind of both blacked out in the moment, but luckily (thanks to his family and the tripod) we have the whole thing on video along with lots of pictures.
We popped some champagne and spent the rest of the day calling all of our family and close friends. There was just a loving peacful feeling that whole day, and it felt so special and surreal.”
So excited for their wedding this spring at Troon North Golf Club!
