It was an absolutely perfect fall day for Rachel & Alex’s El Chorro Herb Garden wedding. Surrounded by the quaint courtyards, fireplaces, bougainvillea, and a hilarious ceremony, their big celebration was the lighthearted, fun wedding they had always imagined.
I asked Rachel to tell me about one of their favorite early dating memories:
“About 4 months into our relationship, we took our first trip together to Carmel and rented a cute Airbnb. Our host wrote to us beforehand and mentioned that she used to be a celebrity photographer in the 80s, and for $100 would take our photos with film. We thought why not? When we arrived, she set us up for photos on her back porch and told us how to pose. The photos ended up being so spectacular and people to this day comment how happy we look together–when the only reason we were laughing and smiling so much is because we barely knew each other and the whole thing felt so ridiculous. The photo session actually made us fall in love with film and we know we wanted a film photographer for our wedding.”
With that story, and with Rachel’s dad also being a photographer, requesting specifically Fuji film color photos for their El Chorro Herb Garden wedding, I was happy to oblige! Film photography has a way of creating beautiful magic and painterly photos that add that special timelessness to wedding photos.
